Bowen and Albert were born into this world as the byproduct of their mother’s milk production – their life worth nothing more, a future uncertain.

Just like humans, cows need to give birth to produce milk. As a result, each year in Australia, over 400,000 calves are born on dairy farms and are deemed as “waste” or “surplus”.

Male calves are often “disposed of” on the farm or sent on a truck to a slaughterhouse within the first few weeks of their life, as they offer little financial gain to a farmer as they cannot be used for future breeding or milk production.

This is the heartbreaking reality thousands of calves face each day on dairy farms across Australia.

Bowen and Albert’s destiny had different plans for them, rescued by our team, they were no longer facing a grim reality.

Bowen and Albert are lucky to now be safe in short-term foster care. Thanks to the generosity of donors, two more precious lives have now been spared.

Now healthy and feeling cared for Bowen and Albert are ready to find their forever home where they will be loved as companions, not commodities.

Bowen
Albert

Meet Albert and Bowen, a beautiful pair of bovine buddies whose friendship is a testament to the power of friendship. Rescued from the same dairy farm, though at different times, it’s as if fate had conspired to bring these two gentle souls together. They have found peace and joy in each other’s company, sharing a mutual love for life.

Albert is the social butterfly of the pair. With a friendly disposition and charming personality, he’s always eager to be in the spotlight. Whether it’s a sunny afternoon or a quiet evening, he’s right there, ready to greet you at the gate with an enthusiastic nod of his head. Albert thrives on affection, seeks out human interaction, and loves to play around, especially when Bowen is by his side. His confidence is infectious, bringing out the best in his more reserved companion.

Bowen, while initially shy, has blossomed under the watchful friendship of Albert. Though he took some time to warm up to people, Bowen now seeks out human company in his own gentle way. He may not lead the charge, but he is happy to follow Albert’s lead in play and exploration, steadily building his confidence in the process. He adds a layer of quiet loyalty to their companionship, and his subtle affection is deeply rewarding.

Together, Albert and Bowen would be wonderful additions to a loving home that values their unique personalities and the harmonious bond they share. With the right environment and continued love, these two will flourish and bring immense joy to their new family.

These calves are not just looking for any home; they need a place to stay together and grow in a loving environment. They require a home with ample space to roam and play and with caretakers who understand the unique needs of young calves. Ideally, their new family will be one that can provide the patience, care, and affection they deserve, helping them transition from their difficult beginnings to a life filled with joy and security.

By welcoming Albert and Bowen into your home, you are not just gaining a pair of delightful calves but offering them a future they could only dream of. Let’s give these little ones the second chance they so desperately need and deserve.
