Can you welcome Gertie into your home?

Gertie’s story begins in the harshest of places. She entered the world at the sale yards—just hours before her mother was due to be sent to slaughter. Had she been born even an hour later, we don’t know what would have happened.

A kind-hearted rescuer saw that Gertie was left alone, waiting to be euthanised. Where many may simply turn away, blanketed by the excuse of “this is how it is always done”,– they chose compassion and saved her life.

The first priority was keeping Gertie alive. So the kind souls secured her rescue with the sale yard. They took her to their backyard, into their home, where they knew she could not stay, but at least she was safe in the meantime.

Then, they heard about Til The Cows Come Home and got in touch with our team seeking help to take over her care.

Gertie made the long journey to one of our foster homes straight away. And now she gets to experience something every baby deserves—safety, sunshine, and friendship.

She explored her new surroundings, basked in the warmth of the sun, and even found a best friend in our Foster Carers’ kelpie—sharing endless smooches and gentle snuggles. 🐮❤️🐶

Gertie is the sweetest calf, a reminder of the resilience of animals and the incredible difference compassion can make.

Only with such a large and engaged community are stories like this able to happen, so thank you.

Now healthy and feeling cared for, Gertie is ready to find her forever home where she will be loved as a companion, not a commodity.

Meet Gerdie, a sweet-natured cow with an abundance of charm and affection to give. When she first arrived in foster care, she seemed so fragile, but it didn’t take her long to settle in and for her sweet nature to shine.

Gerdie is happy to sit with the foster carer in the paddock or follow her around the property exploring. When Gerdie is feeling playful, her tail goes straight up in the air, and she makes an adorable little blurting noise.

Gerdie will never keep you wondering- she is a great communicator and vocal when it’s time for milk or she wants attention.

Throughout her foster time, she’s been perfectly healthy and so easygoing. She loves cuddles and gets plenty of them as the foster carer can never resist giving them to her. Gerdie has a soft and fluffy coat that somehow always stays clean.

Gertie is the most affectionate little soul and will be the perfect companion for the fortunate family that gets the privilege to adopt her.

Whether you are looking for a beautiful paddock ornament to love or a companion to spend your days with, Gerdie requests one thing: a home where she will be showered with pats and affection by her adopter. Gerdie’s affectionate spirit will enrich your days. With her delightful personality and cuddly demeanour, she is sure to be a treasured addition to her new family.
