Can you welcome Miss Gerri & Jack into your home?

Most farm animals outlive the life expectancy of many ‘domestic’ pets. Many breeds of farm animals can live beyond 20 years, which represents a long-term commitment for their owners to provide appropriate feed, meet their ongoing healthcare needs over the years and remain on a suitable property.

However, this long-term commitment is sometimes overlooked by owners of farm animals when committing to give them a home. In such cases, farm animals may end up in situations where they need to be surrendered, and if this fails, these animals are often abandoned, euthanised or end up in the wrong hands, facing a sad fate.

Farm animals are frequently perceived as less deserving of lifetime commitment compared to domestic animals, and as a result, euthanasia as a solution isn’t frowned upon as much. This attitude contributes to the challenges faced by farm animals when they are no longer wanted or cannot be properly cared for.

Though they’ll never know how lucky they are, Miss Gerri and Jack are the exception, having a family who won’t give up on them. Their family wanted nothing less than to give them a home for good, but life took a different turn for their human family.

While their fate is unknown in the long term while they wait for a new family to take over their care, they have a loving family that wants to ensure that they are given the best chance at finding a new home where they will be loved as companions, not commodities

Introducing Miss Gerri and Jack, a charming duo of bovine friends with a special bond.

Miss Gerri faced a challenging start to life, displaying resilience and determination along the way. Born premature, she survived an illness called Crypto and dealt with the loss of her foster brother to the same condition. Despite these hardships, she has blossomed into a nurturing soul, often taking on the role of a foster mom to the rescued calves that her human family cares for.

Miss Gerri’s curious nature and independent spirit mean she enjoys receiving gentle pats when she feels comfortable. Her interactions with humans are warm and genuine when she chooses to engage. She loves the company of her cow friends and thrives in an environment where she can explore her surroundings at her own pace. Generally a quiet girl, Miss Gerri prefers to observe from a distance, bringing a calm temperament that makes her a gentle and endearing presence in any paddock.

In contrast, Jack is the affectionate one in this delightful pair and tends to take the lead. Known for his eagerness to receive attention, he approaches humans enthusiastically, ready for scratches and pats. Since he was a calf, Jack has shown a keen desire to express affection and stay involved in his surroundings. He also has a protective instinct toward Miss Gerri, highlighting their beautiful bond.

Together, Miss Gerri and Jack balance each other perfectly: Miss Gerri’s calm nature complements Jack’s outgoing personality.

They have both thrived in a lively, animal-loving environment, happily coexisting with dogs and pigs, and allowing children to pat them through the fencing.

As their current family is moving interstate, they are now seeking a new home to continue their journey as loved companions. Miss Gerri and Jack would be perfect for someone who has ample space and appreciates the companionship of cows.
