Wicket and Randy were born into this world as the byproduct of their mother’s milk production – their life worth nothing more, a future uncertain.

Just like humans, cows need to give birth to produce milk. As a result, each year in Australia, over 400,000 calves are born on dairy farms and are deemed as “waste” or “surplus”.

Male calves are often “disposed of” on the farm or sent on a truck to a slaughterhouse within the first few weeks of their life, as they offer little financial gain to a farmer as they cannot be used for future breeding or milk production.

This is the heartbreaking reality thousands of calves face each day on dairy farms across Australia.

Wicket and Randy’s destiny had different plans for them, rescued with urgency, they were no longer facing a grim reality.

Wicket and Randy are lucky to now be safe in short-term foster care. Thanks to the generosity of donors, two more precious lives have now been spared.

Now healthy and feeling cared for Wicket and Randy are ready to find their forever home where they will be loved as companions, not commodities.

The ideal home for Wicket and Randy is one that has good fencing to keep them secure, a shelter to keep them warm and dry, paddocks of pasture to graze upon and a family to give them the love they deserve.

Wicket and Randy arrived at their foster home, with a remarkable spirit settling well and enjoying the affection given to them instantly. Healthy and vibrant, they have been fortunate to escape the health challenges that often plague calves from such backgrounds. Wicket, with his small stature but mighty spirit, and Randy, larger and more robust, have shown us what a bit of love and care can achieve.

Wicket and Randy have distinct personalities that endear them to everyone they meet. Wicket, a Hereford cross with the look of an Ayrshire, may be small but undeniably strong. His zest for life and playful antics bring joy to his foster home. Randy, the bigger of the two, is gentle and affectionate, often seen lounging in the warm sun streaming. Both are excellent drinkers and exhibit a strong will to thrive, making them ideal companions for someone looking for loyal, loving animals.

The ideal home for Wicket and Randy is one where they are cherished as companions, not commodities. They need a place with good fencing to ensure their safety, a cosy shelter to keep them warm and dry, and plenty of pasture to graze. Most importantly, they need a family to shower them with the love and attention they deserve. These boys are not just lawnmowers but soulful beings ready to form deep bonds with their new family.
