Scared and vulnerable, without their mother. Ella, George, and Paris were lucky to have been found and rescued.
Pigs, goats, horses, foxes, kangaroos, deer, and rabbits are just some of the victims of hunters in Australia.
Ella, George, and Paris are three baby goats who were found alone, scared, and vulnerable after hunters were “clearing goats” from private land. Their mothers were nowhere to be found and are believed to have been killed.
When lactating females are shot, their dependent young can become separated from them. Without their mothers’ milk and care, these young kids are unlikely to survive.
If a lactating mother is shot, hunters are expected to make reasonable attempts to find the dependent young and euthanise them. If the dependent isn’t found, it will likely perish slowly from starvation, dehydration, exposure or predators.
Both outcomes are heartbreaking to think about. 💔
Fortunately, the cries of George, Ella, and Paris were heard from afar. Their rescuers located the abandoned kids and, with the landowner’s permission, were able to remove them and take them to safety.
Thanks to our generous community, Ella, George, and Paris are under the care of a loving foster carer while they wait for their forever home, where they will be cherished as companions, not commodities.
