No three-year-old should have to live like this. 💔
This is Lulu.
A beautiful young pony, believed to be around three years old, whose life had already been shaped by pain.
Lulu had been living alone on a remote property when she developed a serious eye infection. What may have started as something treatable was left for too long, and by the time help was sought, the damage had become devastating.
A kind-hearted person learned about Lulu and reached out to us, hoping there was still a chance to help her.
Thankfully, her owners made the compassionate decision to surrender Lulu into our care.
When she arrived, our hearts broke. 💔
Her infected eye was filled with pus, with discharge constantly running down her face. The infection had become so severe that she had no functional vision left.
Every movement near her eye caused her pain. She would flinch as though she had been living with that discomfort for far too long.
We transported Lulu straight to our wonderful vets, where her treatment began immediately. She underwent diagnostic testing and was examined by an Equine Ophthalmologist, but the news wasn’t what we had hoped for.
The infection had caused irreversible damage. There was no possibility of saving her sight. The kindest thing we could do was remove her eye.
No animal should have to lose an eye because treatment came too late. 😔
Lulu will be ready to find her forever home soon. A home where she will be loved as a companion, not as a commodity.
