With fragile bodies, matted wool, and inflamed, raw skin- Thelma and Louise were enduring intense discomfort. They didn’t deserve to suffer like this.
Most farm animals outlive the life expectancy of many ‘domestic’ pets. Many breeds of farm animals can live beyond 20 years, which represents a long-term commitment for their owners to provide appropriate feed, meet their ongoing healthcare needs over the years and remain on a suitable property.
However, this long-term commitment is sometimes overlooked by owners of farm animals when committing to give them a home. In such cases, farm animals may end up in situations where they need to be surrendered and if this fails, these animals are often abandoned, euthanised or end up in the wrong hands facing a sad fate.
Farm animals are frequently perceived as less deserving of lifetime commitment compared to domestic animals, and as a result, euthanasia as a solution isn’t frowned upon as much. This attitude contributes to the challenges faced by farm animals when they are no longer wanted or cannot be cared for properly.
Though, they’ll never know how lucky they are, Thelma and Louise were given less than a week to find a new home – their future if we didn’t step in and rescue them is unknown for sure – but it is one that makes us sad to think about.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, Thelma and Louise were rescued and taken to one of our loving foster homes.
Now thriving, Thelma and Louise are now looking for their forever home, where they will be loved as companions, not commodities.

Thelma and Louise are two beautiful girls with an inspiring story of resilience and companionship. Rescued alongside a mother goat and her twin kids, it was evident that their welfare wasn’t a priority – they were skinny and suffering from various conditions.
Thelma, always friendly and eager for interaction, is a natural extrovert who will joyfully meet you at the fence for a scratch. Despite previously having a skin condition, her scars are now a testament to her journey of healing and strength. Her ears and skin continue to heal, showing that her past health issues have long been left behind. With Thelma, you’re guaranteed a buddy who’s always up for a scratch behind the ears and the warmth of human company.
Louise, on the other hand, is a bit more reserved at first, but as her relationship with Thelma shows, she appreciates having a companion by her side. Though she might be skittish initially, patience and some tasty treats will bring her gently closer. Food is the key to her heart, and with time, she will learn to trust and accept affection. Since her treatment, Louise is blossoming into a lively and energic sheep, a sign of the love and care she’s received.
