Taken away from their mothers shortly after birth, Yandi and Zillie have endured a traumatic start to life, a beginning no living being deserves. Yandi and Zillie were rescued from the harsh realities of a dairy farm. In an industry that often views calves as mere byproducts, many are stripped from their mothers shortly after birth, destined for slaughter or left to perish when deemed unviable.
Male calves born on dairy farms are commonly deemed as “waste” or “surplus”, as they offer little financial gain to the farmer. These calves are often “disposed of” on the farm or sent on a truck to a slaughterhouse.
Similarly, females born on dairy farms are often kept for future milk production – a life of continuous milking before facing the sad fate of the slaughter truck once their milk production declines around 5 years of age. Many female calves are born as “surplus” and are also deemed “waste” when dairy farmers don’t need more female cows to raise for future milking.
Yandi and Zillie were among the fortunate few rescued; sadly, this isn’t the reality for hundreds of thousands of calves born on dairy farms each year. Thanks to the generosity of our community and donors, three more lives have been spared.
Now healthy and thriving, Yandi and Zillie are ready to find their forever home where they will be loved as companions, not commodities.

Meet Yandi and Zillie, two gentle young calves looking for a loving home together. Rescued from a dairy farm, these best friends have been side by side since birth and are now weaned from milk.
Yandi is the more confident of the pair, happily going with the flow of daily life. Curious and gentle, he will often wander over to lick your hand — he is becoming more comfortable with pats each day. He enjoys meeting people but prefers a calm, patient approach that allows him to come to you in his own time.
Zillie is the quieter half of the duo. He likes to watch from a distance before deciding it’s safe to join in, often waiting for Yandi to take the first step. Once he feels comfortable, he happily accepts gentle pats and enjoys being part of the group. With a kind and patient person to help build his confidence, Zillie will continue to blossom.
Together, Yandi and Zillie love spending their days grazing before breaking into playful afternoon zoomies. They share a beautiful bond and would love to continue their journey side by side. They have previously lived with other calves without any issues and have also been around goats and chickens.

🤎 All adopters receive an adoption letter and an animal profile that outlines all medical treatments the animal has received, such as vaccines. It also includes specific dietary information to continue and guidance on transport.
❓All adopters receive a calf care guide and information on how to wean bottle-fed calves safely. We offer pre- and post-adoption support to adopters so you are never alone.
✅ We adhere to biosecurity obligations, which include having a PIC number, NLIS tags, and completing the necessary movement paperwork (eNVD and movement record). For any movements of animals from a tick-infested area to a non-infested area, additional biosecurity requirements must be met. We can provide advice and support throughout this process.
