In Australia, millions of cows live on farms across the country. Most are kept in captivity and seen as commodities – valued only for what their bodies can produce. Their existence as sentient beings, capable of feeling and forming bonds, is too often overlooked.
Cows are raised for many reasons: for their meat, their milk, their hides, and even for entertainment. No matter their purpose, most will have their lives cut short, with little chance to experience true freedom or affection. Even those treated more gently still meet the same heartbreaking end.
Despite their intelligence and emotional intelligence, cows are frequently underestimated. Much like dogs or cats, they can form strong social connections and experience joy, fear, and grief.
Norman and Tully, two rescued calves, once faced uncertain and heartbreaking fates they did not deserve. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, they were given a second chance at life.
Today, amidst the sadness that so many others still face, Norman and Tully are among the fortunate few living safely and freely, experiencing the world as they should have all along.
Now, they are ready to find their forever home. A place where they will be loved as companions, not commodities.

Although he prefers interactions on his own terms, he occasionally delights in a good scratch. Norman’s cleverness shines as he’s even figured out how to open the chain latch on his pen. Reinforcing gentle interactions will be key as he continues to grow into a (very) big, strong boy. His transformation from a vulnerable calf, uncertain he would survive, to a thriving companion is a testament to his resilient spirit and the joy he brings to those around him.
Tully is a warm and endearing girl who is blossoming in confidence each day. She values the companionship of a confident, social friend like Norman, who will undoubtedly help her continue to thrive. Tully’s appetite has steadily increased since her surgery, making her beautiful coat look shinier than ever. Tully will accept a scratch while eating, showing her potential to form a deep, lasting bond with her new family. Watching her grow into herself and her surroundings will be part of what makes adopting her so special.
